Kaitlin's Horse Fair

Nice experience at horse fair this year for Kaitlin and Johnny, her new horse who joined our family this last March. Top picture is her Champion Sr. Ranch Horse Showmanship

This is Kaitlin and Johnny with the Grand Champion Showmanship, after recieving Reserve Champion in her age group she went on to win top position in the Grand Champion round. A big deal for her since showmanship is a new one for her, having only begun doing it last year.

This is Kaitlin with her Kiger named Tesoro, they showed at Deschutes County in Dressage. They looked great and warm up was beautiful, but he fell apart in the ring. They completed the pattern with difficulty, recieved a white ribbon, and got some encouraging remarks from the judge. Tesoro can be such a stinker, but they have come so far together and Kaitlin should be proud of herself for her accomplishments. She has trained this horse from the ground up, and when his mind matures, she will have a terrific mount. I love her attitude, this picture was taken "after" the disappointing attitude display and she is still smiling and still loves him. I was impressed that she stayed on during his "airs above ground" "Piaffes" and flat out rearing and crow hopping, she was just glad she was not excused from the ring... Good memories made!

This is Kait and Johnny again with their Grand Champion English Equitation ribbon. They won Reserve in their class, then came back to win Grand Champion in the final round. That was their MO this year. Good fun.

This picture is for the Grand Champion All Around Working Ranch Horse Award, she is holding the wrong ribbon I think, but she did recieve the overall highest combined scores for the 6 Working Ranch horse classes that include Roping, Cow Working, Knowledge and skills, Ranch horse pattern, Ranch horse trail and Ranch horse showmanship.

This is Kait and Johnny doing the trail course, they recieved a red ribbon but aside from him jumping over the logs instead of stepping quietly it was a beautiful ride. On ranch horse trail they came in and won champion. They like having 2 tries at everything I think!

Great experience, and we are off to State Fair the 19-22 of August. We are hoping for a safe trip, fun and school clothes shopping! Senior year, here we come!
